90-Year-Old from Oklahoma Is Rewarded for Going Out of His Way to Help Others
His wife Nannette says it’s important to him to show everyone he cares. She said, “He is special, he really is. He keeps busy. He loves what he’s doing.” His neighbors have nothing but praise for the man.
The 90-Year-Old Gets Things Done That Need to Be Done
Dan Hayes said, “He knows everything. If there’s something that needs to be repaired, whether it’s the gates or lights or anything, he knows who to go to.” Other neighbors chimed in with other comments about how Lewis has helped with electrical issues, flat tires, plumbing disasters, and more. If there’s ever a question about the neighborhood, he’s the first one people call.
His friends were so encouraged by his kindness and generosity that they nominated him for the Pay It Forward Award. And wouldn’t you know he received those special honors and a cash prize? He was stunned beyond words. He said, “You know you’ve got me where, honestly, I don’t know what to say.”
Lewis’s way of helping his friends and neighbors reminds us that we can brighten someone’s day and be Jesus' hands and feet. All it takes is a little kindness.
