Mom Is Hit by a Piece of Power Tool on Her Way to Walt Disney World

Chynna was driving when she heard “the loudest banging you could imagine” just before being struck by the weighty battery. The object crashed through the front windshield and hit the side of her face. Initially, Chynna didn’t recognize what had happened, but after a moment, she realized she’d been injured. “I saw my eye through the rearview mirror, and I was bleeding, bleeding everywhere,” she told WHDH Boston.
Chynna Thought She Had Been Hit by a Rock
At first, Chynna thought she’d been hit by a rock. Then, she saw the chunky, black object in her lap. Though stunned and with her frightened children in the back seat, Chynna managed to pull to the side of the road. She was taken to the hospital and received 11 stitches.
It’s unclear where the battery came from, but Chynna, a landscaper, suspects that it flew from the back of a work truck. She advises others to “Put your tools where they need to be. Like, this could’ve been so much worse.”
Grateful to be alive, Chynna said, “I could've died is the scary thing. My guardian angels need a raise because this is crazy.”
The Family Still Made Their Way to Disney World
After being treated for her wounds and undeterred, Chynna and her family made their very first visit to Disney. After all, Walt Disney World is a 20-hour drive from their Massachusetts home! “My face was swollen, and I mean, I still took all the pictures. I wasn’t letting that stop my shine,” said Chynna.
In spite of their terrifying experience and unplanned stop at the hospital, Chynna and her family appreciated every minute of their time at WDW. Chynna shared, “We had a great time. It could've been a way different outcome, and I'm more than grateful that it wasn't.”
“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings, you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” Psalms 91:4
