5 New Christian Authors to Follow

One of my favorite things to ask other people is what they are learning, or who some of their favorite people are that they learn from. Christian authors usually fall into this category. I have my list of usuals who I frequently read what they are writing, but I am always looking for some new and fresh faces that I might not know about. Being a writer myself, I know how important it is to help others get their work noticed as well. There is always something that we can learn from someone new.

Why Is it Important to Read Books by Christian Authors?

Every day we are surrounded by sources of information right at our fingertips. We watch television, check our email, and scroll social media, sometimes without realizing how much time we are spending on all of it. With all of the news, opinions, people sharing things, and everything else we are exposed to, it can be a bit of information overload. This is why it is important that we consider what sources we are letting speak into and have influence in our lives. When we read work by Christian authors, a majority of the time, we can assume that their writing will ultimately point us toward Christ. There is nothing wrong with reading what secular authors write, but we do need to be aware of whether it is bringing us closer to Jesus or not. That is why when we are reading anything, Christian authors are a good choice to learn from.

Here are five new Christian authors you should be following:

1. Nicole Zasowski

Nicole is a marriage and family therapist, a writer, a speaker, and the author of two books, From Lost to Found, and What If It’s Wonderful

In her most recent book, What If It’s Wonderful, she takes us on a journey to learn how to be more celebratory in life. It can be easy to fear disappointment, and we almost expect it to happen. Nicole teaches us that we can actually step out and live a life full of joy, even in an imperfect and hard world. She shows us that we can trust that God has good things for us, and we don’t have to be afraid.

Her writing is relatable, elegant, and gives you a beautiful visual description that makes you feel like you are right in her book with her. She does more encouraging writing on Instagram as well, and you can follow her there, on Facebook, and on her website, www.nicolezasowski.com.

2. Jason VanRuler

Jason is a therapist and speaker who helps people develop healthy relationships. He shares practical advice through Instagram reels, that give his followers tools to take steps toward a better relationship. His approach to things is very down to earth, and he adds to his informational reels with his great sense of humor.

He is currently writing his first book, which is scheduled to come out in October of 2023. He posted that it will be about “working through tough times to find love and connection.”

You can follow Jason on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and on his website, www.jasonvr.com

3. Manda Carpenter

Manda is a writer, speaker, coach, foster parent, and podcaster; she has authored two books, Space, and Soul Care to Save Your Life.

In her latest book, Soul Care to Save Your Life, she writes about going through a low point of her own, and that radical honesty is what brought healing for her. She models for each one of us what it looks like to own and work through our own stuff, and come out better on the other side. Manda is real and raw and is a breath of fresh air in her writing.

I first heard Manda on a podcast, and I was immediately impressed. Her honesty and the way she uses hard things in her life to grow was very inspiring. She will help you realize that we don’t have to be afraid of the difficulty in life, but that it can be used for our own good.

You can follow Manda on Instagram, listen to her on A Longer Table Podcast, which she hosts with her husband Eric, and on her website, www.mandacarpenter.com. You will not be disappointed.

4. Tyler Staton

Tyler, the new lead pastor at Bridgetown Church, is the author of 2 books: Searching For Enough, and Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools. He is also a national director of th24-7 Prayer USA, which according to their Instagram page, “exists to transform the world through movements and communities of Christ-centered, mission-minded prayer.”

His most recent book, Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools, is a contemplative approach to prayer. Prayer is essential to our relationship with God. It is one of the ways we communicate with him, and get to know him more. Tyler takes a simple look at it and makes it accessible, yet it is rooted in rich tradition.

Tyler is smart and educated, but is very approachable. He preaches in one of our country’s most post-Christian cities. It takes a very friendly and warm person to reach people who want nothing to do with God. He is also very engaging and makes the hard-to-understand things a lot easier to understand.

You can follow Tyler on Instagram, and check out his website, www.tylerstaton.com.

5. Toni Collier

Toni is a speaker, podcaster, and founder of Broken Crayons Still Color, which is an international ministry helping women heal from their past. She is also the author of the book, Brave Enough to Be Broken, which releases on November 1 of this year.

In her first book, Brave Enough to Be Broken, Toni encourages us to “embrace brokenness” so we can find hope in our imperfect lives. On her website, it says she “explains that we can exchange perfection for hope only when our wounds and scars are seen and known, when unconditional love abounds, and when were brave enough to embrace pain and be completely broken and surrendered to a God who exchanges that brokenness for His power and hope.” This is definitely a message that the world needs right now.

On Instagram, Toni writes posts and shares reels where she is vulnerable and real. It is very refreshing, especially to see on social media. She is also spunky, has a zest for life, and has a great sense of humor. You will love all of the things she shares. You can follow Toni on Instagram and Facebook, listen to her podcast Still Coloring, and check out her website, www.tonijcollier.com.

These are some of the newer authors that you should be following. Each one of these individuals will encourage you, equip you, and make you want to be closer to Jesus. It is one thing to write the things that they do, but it is another to live it out. They all live what they write about, and you can see that the desire of their hearts is to lead people to Jesus.

Go out and support these authors by buying their books, and following them on their social media. They will thank you for it!
