Choosing to Heal
- Published Apr 22, 2019
Do you remember the story where Jesus asks the man by the pool of “Do you want to get well?” At first this question sounds crazy. Of course the man wants to get well. But wait. Just before Jesus asks the question we’re given some vital information—“he had been in this condition for a long time” (John 5:6). While we don’t know the man’s heart, we have to wonder if he struggled with what we now call learned helplessness. Many of us, having grown familiar with certain struggles, give up and quit wrestling with them. We settle into thinking, feeling and acting in ways that does not promote our growth and healing. Are there any areas of your life that need an infusion of vitality, hope and courage? If so, decide today to do your part to get well.
