Learn to Serve Before You Lead

The team had been put in place. Each member was eager to play the game. The 10-year-old boys lined up to participate in the warm-up session. Coach Leggett was full of hopes for the upcoming season.
Ted wanted to be coach but was relegated to the position of assistant coach as Coach Leggett had 12 years of coaching experience. Ted’s felt he had the vision and excitement of a young man to offer the team. He felt it was time for Coach Leggett to step aside and allow a man with fresh ideas to take over.
As the season came to an end, the team had only 1 game to claim as a win. Ted could not bring himself to follow orders from Coach Leggett and many times would do what he wanted instead. The young team members had a lot of fun with Ted, he was just one of the guys. In order to win, they needed a leader. Had Coach been allowed to lead perhaps they would have had a few more wins under their belt.
(Matthew 20:26) "But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant."
