Let Your Words Be Few
- Published Feb 08, 2021
Many of us seem desperate to make our point. Building our case, we inundate our mate, and perhaps friends, with words. We bowl them over with our opinion, our point of view, unaware that doing so causes them to feel overwhelmed and defensive. Solomon said, “Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few” (Ecclesiastes 5:2). Next time you are tempted to lecture someone, spouting off with what you believe is ‘right,’ don’t. Guard your tongue and let your words be few.
