Open Your Heart

They stood looking at the devastation in front of them. Henry and Jeanette had lived in their home for 25 years. The storm took off the roof and destroyed the entire upper floor. Fortunately, they were not injured.
As their heart began to sink and the reality of this loss was about to turn into despair, they noticed their neighbors. The elderly couple huddled together outside their home cold and shaking. Henry and Jeanette immediately took their minds of their loss and began to focus on what they could do for their neighbors. Soon the entire neighborhood was engaged in helping one another.
This was a hard time to overcome, but the relationships built during this storm would weather any storm to come.
(1 John 3:17) But whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
