Receiving Praise
- Published Oct 15, 2019
It is awkward to receive praise. Yet, false humility is just that—false. We have been given gifts and it is not honest to spurn those who would offer us encouragement and respect. Consider the pianist who holds us spellbound by their talent. How about the painter who is able to capture our attention. I’m particularly awed by the singer who has a voice capable of singing praises in such a way that I want to hum along. How about the speaker able to expound truth in such a way that pierces your heart. Scripture says, “Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor” (Romans 13:7).
