Parenting by Design - November 12

Faith in the Unseen

Heb. 11:7: By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith (NIV).

Noah certainly did not fit into the cultural norm. Although he was surrounded by wickedness and rebellion, he chose to be obedient to God. Noah's neighbors probably asked lots of questions when they saw him building a 450 foot long boat, and perhaps he was even chastised and rejected. But because he was faithful to God, he found favor with the Lord and his entire family was saved from the destruction of the flood.

In obeying the Lord today, we sometimes see the cost, yet fail to acknowledge the reward. Godly parenting decisions may, at times, result in persecution or rejection by the world. These are the times when we must lead through faith, knowing God will reveal Himself later. Noah's faithful obedience should be comforting to us, and remind us that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Focus on making parenting decisions that are obedient to God and know that He will reward those who are faithful.
