The key to real Kingdom advancement
March 21, 2013
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
I remember years ago when our church was helping with a Billy Graham crusade. At one point, George Beverly Shea, the singer and composer of music for Billy Graham, was sharing about a wheat field near his home where he grew up.
He said, “When the wheat gets high and the fields are ripe with the harvest, you can’t even see the fences that divide the properties. And because the spiritual wheat field is ripe for the harvest, we must put aside any differences that might divide us for the sake of the Commission of Christ.”
I thought, “That’s so profound.” All too often, the church allows insignificant things to divide her instead of focusing on what’s important: the wheat field of lost people that’s ripe for the harvest. But if we see the field for what it is, those divisions fade into the background as we focus on the remaining task of making disciples of all nations!
Don’t let the finer points keep you from partnering with others for the sake of the Gospel. Focus first on the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. When the church of God works together to expand the Kingdom of God, the world will see a clear picture of the grace of God!
WORK TOGETHER WITH THE BODY OF CHRIST TO BRING OTHERS TO JESUS AND SPREAD THE KINGDOM OF GOD!
