While there are certainly times when we must courageously confront someone, there are many times when pausing to avoid a confrontation is also wise. Scripture says, “Whoever would foster loves covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends” (Proverbs 17:9). The next time you are ready to confront someone, pause and ask yourself whether it is wise to do so, or perhaps it may be better to let the matter go.
