Time with God - May 6, 2013

Matthew 7:9-10

Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?

A godly parent strives to help his children!

Remember that God designed humanity to reflect His own nature. He created us “in His image”. Nothing about us pictures God more clearly than family life, when it is good. Just as God is three persons of equal value operating together in love, with different roles, so a family operates together.

And so we can expect to learn a lot about how to be a good father or mother by looking at how God our Father relates to us!

Parenting is very complex; it forces us to weave together our ministry calling from God and our responsibility to our families. It also has to take into account how our kids respond to us. But one thing we can say for sure is that a good parent thinks about how to help their kids—spiritually and physically and intellectually.

What can you do this week to help your kids (or those kids you influence) grow closer to the Lord? How can you bless them in life? God is calling you to follow the example He sets with you everyday as your Father.
