Got God?
James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.
I put this scripture first because I want to remind you that God is near to those who seek Him, and that the enemy must flee when you resist him. It is important to know your enemy, but it is more important to know the power of God in your life. When I was writing The Warrior Mom Handbook, I was amazed at what I found in the Book of Revelations. It was a revelation to me to say the least. Let’s look.
Revelation 12:7-17 And there was a war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down – the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
Then I heard a voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ.
For the accuser of our brothers,
Who accuses them before out God day and night,
Has been hurled down.
They overcame him
By the blood of the Lamb
And by the word of their testimony;
They did not love their lives so much
As to shrink from death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens
And you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea,
Because the devil has gone down to you!
He is filled with fury,
Because he knows that his time is short.”
When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach. Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring – those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And the dragon stood at the shore of the sea.
In a nut shell, the enemy is trying to take moms out so that he can take her children out as well. He wants to defeat moms so that moms don’t raise victorious children in Christ who know their enemy, and more importantly: who know their enemy’s schemes. Warrior Moms must arm themselves and their children with the armor of God and the fruit of the Spirit, and they must pray in the Spirit on all occasions. They must not live in fear of the enemy, but rather, they must live by faith every day. It is a daily choice that we make daily. Will we live by fear or faith? One can’t sit on the fence on this issue. Remember, that when the bully on the playground realizes that you aren’t afraid of him anymore (and you learn karate), he can’t call you names and steal your lunch money. The same is true with the enemy. Once he knows that you know that you “Got God” and God is bigger and stronger than fear, he must flee. Warrior Moms are trained and equipped in the Word of God, and they set a tone of faith in their home. They encourage and strengthen their children; they stand steadfast in storms and hold tightly to their Heavenly Father’s hand. They are victors in Christ and they raise children who default to faith, not fear. The enemy is trying to get a 2 for one deal (or a 3 for 1 deal - depending on how many kids you have). He thinks we are a cheap blue light special at Kmart. Truth is: we are precious, valuable, priceless daughters of the King of Glory because the answer to the above question is, “Yes, we do GOT GOD” and with Him comes Power and Protection and Victory!
WMU!
