Hands-on Faith for Families– week of April 21, 2014
Theme: The Church
The Church as Sheep of the Good Shepherd
Play: Have one child face away from everyone else. Then have everyone else shout, "Baa! Baa!" while a parent quietly instructs the child to do something or to move to a particular spot. (With only one child, have loud music replace the baaing.)
Talk: In order to follow the instructions, the child had to listen for the parent’s voice and block out the other sounds. We have to do the same thing with Jesus. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us that His followers are like His sheep. Jesus’ followers know Him, and they hear His voice (John 10:14,27), even when there are a lot of noises around trying to get their attention. When we hear His voice, we are better able to follow Him. How do you listen for Jesus’ voice so you can follow Him?
Pray: Ask God to help you and your family hear His voice daily.
