Remember I’ve Got This
Café Menu for day, February , 2015
Today’s Special is: Let Them See You In Me
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Kelly Brown
Main Ingredient:
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
Entrée:
Lord, help me to remember to come to You.
Sometimes my mind gets the best of me whether it's doing day to day tasks or doing kingdom work. I recently was going to be speaking to our youth group at church. I felt like I had everything that God wanted me to share, but my mind just couldn't put the pieces together.
I felt frazzled and didn't know which way to turn, so I decided to spend some quality time with my horses and the Lord. This usually does the trick, but not that day. My usually calm horse was acting all nervous as we walked out into the pasture. It was like she was feeding off my anxiety.
I kept praying, “Lord, I need to get this under control” (notice I said, “I need to”).
Well, a few minutes later, one of my other horses slowly came walking up behind us. She followed us for a little bit. When I would stop, she would come up and nuzzle me.
I was on my own agenda and not really paying her a lot of attention. My mind was still running on overdrive. I kept trying to figure out how to put the message all together in a way that made sense. I couldn't get it to flow, so I kept walking. After a little while, my normally calm horse still wouldn't settle down. I let her go, and I placed the halter on the one that was calm. As soon as I had control of her, she became anxious and couldn't be still.
Then I let both of them go and said,
Ok, Lord, I am trying to get these anxious thoughts under control.
Suddenly it was like He whispered,
Can't you see you are trying to control this on your own. Come to Me, and I will take care of it and you. I was trying to show you through your horses the one being calm was Me. When you came to Me, My peace was there, but when you tried to take control again the anxiousness came back. Don't you see, I can bring peace to your mind and heart if you will just allow Me control? When you are feeling overwhelmed, bring it to Me and let Me handle it. I will give you the peace you are longing for.
In that moment, the words “let them see You in me” came to me. It was like He was saying,
I will equip you to do what I have asked. Just come to Me and allow My peace to calm your anxious thoughts. Just like those horses were reflecting you, remember, if you will come to Me, I will give you exactly what you need… just let them see Me in you.
Take Out:
When you are overwhelmed with day to day tasks or with kingdom work He has ask you to do, remember to take it to Him and let Him speak through you. Allow others in your day to day life to see Jesus in you.
Dessert:
Dear Lord I pray that I will allow You to handle all my worries, my anxieties, my struggles and my day to day life. You, Lord, know what I need and when I need it. Allow me to be still and listen to You. May everything I do and say be a reflection of You. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
