The life or death importance of the gospel
March 24
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. - Romans 1:16
An experiment was conducted a number of years ago where a student was blindfolded and sent into an auditorium where he was told he could do anything he wanted. He was unaware that some of his classmates were sitting in the auditorium, and would be shouting instructions at him as he walked around blindfolded.
None of the sitting students were allowed to move, only to shout instructions at the wandering student. One of the classmates sat in the very back, and was instructed to shout for the blindfolded student to climb the steps all the way to the back as if it were a matter of life or death.
The results of the experiment were that the blindfolded student took the most difficult path up the steps, following the voice of the one who was speaking as if it were a life or death situation.
The blindfolded person in the room represented those who are searching for truth today. And while many ways of living are presented as, “If this feels good, do it,” the message of the gospel must be the one that stands out because of its importance and clarity.
There is no more important message than that of Jesus Christ. Yet too often, it’s presented as if it’s one option among many others. But when we communicate the gospel passionately, telling others of its life or death importance, then we will see a response. Communicate well and people will respond!
Prayer Challenge
Pray and ask God to help you communicate the gospel clearly and passionately so that others would see its importance.
