Hands-on Faith for Families– week of May 25, 2015
Theme:Kindness
Showing Kindness to Others
Play: Before mealtime, have each family member gather five shirts. Any style will work. The idea is to have a stash of shirts to pull from.
As you prepare for dinner — setting the table, filling drinks, serving food — kindly offer to help one another with tasks. You may also compliment a task well done: “Wow, Mom! This smells great.” As you are kind to another member of your family, put on one of your shirts. The goal is to put on all your shirts.
Talk: Each shirt you put on was a symbol of kindness you showed to a member of your family. You were demonstrating the action of Colossians 3:12. In that verse, God tells us to clothe ourselves with kindness. As you did and said kind things, you were showing kindness that comes from God.
Pray: Thank God for your family and friends. Ask Him to help you always treat other people with kindness.
