Time with God - October 19, 2015

Isaiah 30:18

Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; how blessed are all those who long for Him.

God’s grace and justice are not opposed to one another!

It can seem a bit strange to us the way this verse puts God’s grace and justice together. We tend to think that God’s grace and justice are opposed to each other, as if His grace trumps His justice. But God is not like that; all of His attributes hold hands and work together. His grace will never compromise His justice and His justice will never squash His grace!

How great to have a God who is consistent in His being! We don’t have to wonder if He will show justice or grace toward us today. He will show both. That is why God’s plan of redemption came with such a cost. Jesus’ death on the cross for you and me was the only way that God could pour out His grace on us without compromising His justice. Jesus took the full brunt of God’s justice and anger so that we could experience God’s grace.

Today God is reminding you that He didn’t forget about His justice when He forgave you. Rather, Jesus faced it for you. Tell Him what that means to you.
