The Rock Bottom Well - Encouragement Café - April 14, 2016

The Rock Bottom Well by Robin Jones

Thursday, April 14, 2016

I waited patiently for the Lord;he inclined to me and heard my cry.  He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.  He put a new song in my mouth,a song of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:1-3 ESV

Wine goggles blur the lines between bozos and Boazes.  Back in the day, these magical goggles could make any frog look like a prince.

They should have come with a warning on the side of them.

Warning:You reap what you sow.  Use of product may be followed by a hangover,
a worn weary soul, and a picture at your rock bottom.

And so life went… reaping what I sowed.  I became hungover with consequences that made my soul weary.

At the bottom of my brokenness in a mess of tears on the floor, I looked up at the sky screaming at God,

What!  What do you want?!

That was the first prayer I had uttered since I was a child.

A beam of light appeared at the end of the rock bottom well.  In the silence, Grace reached out to me.

The grace of salvation was the hand coming up out of the dark miry pit I had found myself in.  The light and air felt like a marvelous release.

As new believer, I would walk in and out of the light because the enemy of my soul incessantly brought to mind all my failures and foibles.

I believed the condemnation because I didn’t truly understand the freedom given to me by the blood bought sacrifice of Jesus.

Is that you today, Sweet Sister?  Totally free, but still feeling condemned?

Teasi Cannon, Author of My Big Bottom Blessing, said the Lord impressed on her heart these words,

When I say that I see you through my Son’s blood that is what I mean.

She says that is what we all are aching to understand, the following:

When you accepted Christ, all of the sin that you have done, are doing and will ever do has been completely wiped clean. (Hebrews 10:21-22)

The blood that Christ shed paid for all of your failures and foibles completely.  In His last words from the cross, Jesus’ testified, “It is finished” then voluntarily gave up His spirit.  The Greek word used in John 19:30 “Tetelestai” is a legal term used when debts are cancelled.  It literally means…

PAID IN FULL.

In one fell swoop, God’s Grace pronounced these things over your life, when you believed:

·      God has removed your sins as far as the east is from the west. (Psalm 103:12)

·      Jesus took the punishment for your sins once and for all. (Hebrews 10:1 -18)

·      You are now in a reconciled relationship with your Heavenly Father. (Romans 5:10)

·      You are redeemed and all of your sins have been paid in full. (1 Peter 1:18 0 19)

God sees you this way.  BELIEVE HIM!

Mind: In your journal, make a two column graph.  In one column, place all of the things you condemn yourself for.  In the other column, write “Paid In Full by Jesus” across from each of your entries.

Spirit:  Take that journal entry and prayerfully reject the condemnation you pour on yourself and thank God for his AMAZING GRACE!

Body:   Take yourself for a FREEDOM WALK!  Blast those worship tunes!  Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound!  Redeemed!  I’m Free!

Lord, may every sister who has accepted Christ believe and know in her heart that she is free, clean, forgiven and loved.  May she feel the tangible touch of the deep and abiding love of God through Christ.  For every sister who has not accepted Christ, may today be today she is called and accept the free gift of grace.  In the matchless, perfect name of Jesus, Amen.
