It was just easier to leave it like it was. The disarray of my house, my mind and my spirit really needed to be changed, but that was going to require a lot of effort. I was fresh out of energy, effort and wanting something to change.
Even though I knew the Lord was near, what I really needed was an encourager. Someone in the here and now flesh who could love me through the messy hard stuff.
I needed a Barnabas friend!
Have you ever felt that way?
Maybe you just needed a friend to come along at the right time and when they do, you are then able to tackle your problem or you have the courage to change something for the better. A godly friend can be the inspiration we need to grow closer to the Lord and become who He's been prodding us to be. But that first step can be so, so difficult.
Do you need to make a decision for a good change today?
We can pray that a true, trusted friend will come alongside us today and help as we make changes for good for His glory. The Lord doesn't want us to stay stuck, sick or sad, but He wants us to change and trust Him for something better.
If you find change to be scary or difficult just take baby steps. Little bites like moving the furniture, driving a different way to work or just thinking differently can be a great place to start. Change is hard, but not impossible. Ask a godly friend to pray for and with you if you need to make a big decision that requires change. And remember HE is the God who does not change (Malachi 3:6).
Thank You, Father God, that You do not change! We can always count on You to stay the same when life seems to constantly try and shake our faith. When there is change in my life or a decision to be made, thank You that I can rest it in Your almighty, capable hands knowing You've got it all under control and I don't need to worry. I rest in You, Lord, the One who does not change! Thank You! In the precious, holy name of Jesus, Amen!
