Hands-on Faith for Families – Week of September 26
Theme: Look Ahead
A Good Name
Scripture: A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. (Proverbs 22:1).
Play: Ask, “Who in our family is the most patient?” The most patient person receives a few coins. Continue guessing character qualities and people until you have distributed several coins.
Talk: Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” A good name isn’t just a nice-sounding name, like John or Kaley; it comes when people associate your name with good things about you. Esteemed means that people think highly of you because of your character. What God thinks about you is what matters most, however. And He gives you the best name of all — “child of God.” Based on this name, what do you suppose God thinks about you?
Pray: Pray together that your family would desire a good name and godly character more than money or things.
