THE WORD AS WATER
My current Warrior Mom’s class was discussing chapter one of The Warrior Mom Handbook. The topic of the entire chapter is finding strength in God. God is the Word (John 1:1). We began discussing Him as the Living Water.
Jer 2:13“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
God is a spring of eternal living water that, by the presence of the Holy Spirit within us, is a continual source of renewal and strength.
Together, we envisioned this eternal fountain within, and we celebrated who God is. Consider the power of water. It can flood with a force strong enough to break down walls and remove buildings. It can also be as light and invisible as the presence of moisture. Further, if it is in the form of a small drizzle, it can eventually travel to the furthest corner within us – the tip of our little pinky-toe. I thank God that The Living Water within is not bound by our flesh, our emotion, our circumstances, or our ignorance. The Living Water can reach the driest places within us – places that we are not even aware need its presence! On our own, in our own strength, our wells run dry. Often, however, we attempt to dig our own cisterns as if they will endure under the most heated trials. The heat and pressures of this world crack and dry out our self-made cisterns rather quickly, but oh how amazing it is to be sustained by the eternal, living water of Christ within.
I encourage you to seek God in His Word and discover the soothing shower of His amazing Grace.
Isaiah 58:11:The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
