Time with God - February 13, 2018

Mark 9:20-24

They brought the boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at the mouth. And He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!” And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

If you are struggling with unbelief, be honest about it.

As Jesus gently reprimanded this man for his unbelief, the man didn’t hang his head and walk away. Rather, he spoke to Jesus very honestly about his faith. He said, “I do have some faith, but not enough; Jesus, would you increase my faith?”

This is the kind of prayer God loves. The man did not try to use big faith words and “claim” this healing as if he had more faith than he did. No, he expressed the faith he did have and then begged God to increase his faith.

God wants honesty from you today, too. Express both your faith and your struggles of faith to God and ask Him to increase your faith.
