Time with God - April 20, 2018

Mark 1:35

And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.”

Make sure that you learn to pray alone.

While praying with others is so valuable in your learning to pray, there’s much about prayer that can only happen when you’re alone with God.

Jesus wants you to follow his pattern and learn to find “a secluded place” to pray alone. If you cannot find a secluded place then hide yourself in the garage or the bathroom or a roomy closet and have some prayer in there!

This is your relational time with God, when you share with him what’s on your heart, when you ask him questions, when you read his word while listening for his voice in your heart. This is when you confess your sins to him and make things right in the relationship. This is when you respond to what you sense he’s doing or saying in your life.

My wife and I love our kids, but we also need our time together with just each other, to keep our relationship healthy. It’s the same with your relationship with God.

Do you hear God’s message to your heart today? He wants `alone time' with you every day. If you’re serious about growing closer to God in your daily life, then learn to get alone with him.
