Hands-on Faith for Families – week of June 3, 2019
Theme: You Can Believe God’s Word
The Bible Came From God
Scripture: For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21)
Play: Ask where three or four of your possessions originally came from. Track them in a series of steps. For example, “Where did your shoes come from?” (From Mom, the shoe store, a factory.) “Where did the milk for your cereal come from?” (From the fridge, grocery store, a farm, a cow.) Who can name the longest series?
Talk: Even though you might have received your Bible as a gift or bought it at a store, the Bible comes from God. He told people what to write, and He is the original source of the words. The people wrote the Scriptures as God inspired them. The Bible says, “Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). Since the Bible comes from God, how should we respond to what it says?
Pray: Thank God for speaking to us through the Bible.
