Jesus Speaks When We Stop to Listen – Beloved Women – October 7, 2019
READ
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT
Mary and Martha are familiar people from the Bible. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet listening, while Martha frantically ran around, preparing her home. In many Sunday School classes, the question is asked, “Are you a Mary or Martha personality?” In other words, are you too busy doing things to listen to God?
In John 11:25, Jesus visits the sisters on the occasion of their brother’s death. Martha runs out to meet Jesus in her sorrow. She is no longer too busy to listen. And, at that moment, Jesus reveals this incredible truth to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (ESV).
Jesus comforts Martha in her grief and gives her an eternal hope all because she stopped to listen to what He had to say. What words of wisdom would Jesus share with you if you slowed down to listen? Make time to talk and listen to Him daily.
