Today's Scripture
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!”
Proverbs 3:5–8 MSG
Thoughts for Today
The quickest way we can get into trouble is by thinking we can figure out everything on our own. How presumptuous to think we know it all! Today’s scripture makes that so clear.
Think about it. God wants to help us with everything. He wants us to seek his guidance and trust his answers in everything we do, everywhere we go. And when we do that, he promises to keep us on track.
We need God’s wisdom. God’s guidance. God’s strength. God’s provision. And the best part is that he wants to provide all that for us! We will walk the walk victoriously only if we lean on him and trust him.
Consider this …
We all have choices to make every day. Small and big. Momentary and life changing. So often we don’t even think to seek God’s answer unless the choice is huge and so difficult, we have given up finding the answer ourselves. But God loves us so much, he cares about everything that concerns us—big and small.
Ask him daily to guide you. To strengthen you. And stay in tune to his leading throughout the day. He guides us through his Word. Sometimes through godly counsel. And often through that still small voice. His answers may surprise you at times but remember that his way and his plan and his timing are always perfect.
Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.
Psalm 25:4–5 NLT
Prayer
Father, so often I allow emotions, rather than your guidance, to guide my choices. Sometimes I just want my way more than yours. Other times, I just think I have things all figured out and don’t need your help. Please forgive me. Show me the right path throughout each day, Lord, and help me to follow it. In Jesus’ name ...

This twelve-step program is suggested for use in support groups, recovery groups and home groups. It offers help for anyone struggling with a life-controlling problem like drug addiction, alcoholism, sexual addiction, gambling or workaholism. Note: This curriculum was written especially for small groups and we encourage people to use it that way. However, it can also be used effectively as a personal study for individuals or couples.
