Never … No Never Alone
DECEMBER 16
Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me.
There’s nothing, my friend, that will bring you more face-to-face with God than going through the trials of life. It feels like you may never see daylight, never smile, never laugh again. In the valley, you will cling to His garments and hold onto His hand more tightly than ever.
Do you believe He is with you? King David wrote Psalm 23:4, “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow.” He knew what he was writing about. He himself was a shepherd. And for years he had to hide in caves from King Saul. Yet he also wrote in Psalm 139, “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You (v. 17-18 Amplified).
Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). The ultimate Sovereign is greater than Satan. You will not have to cross Jordan alone. You will not appear before the judgment of a Holy God alone. You are not going to die alone.
What a promise! You are not alone! Write these words on a card and post it in a place where you can see it all the time: “I am not alone. God is with me.”
