Be Intentional With Your Words – Beloved Women – February 21, 2020
READ: “Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.” (Psalm 139:4 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Words have power. They have the power to sting our hearts or bring encouragement. I love how today’s verse reminds us how our Heavenly Father knows it all. He already knows the words we are about to speak before we ever mutter it.
I wonder; what if we would be intentional to pause before speaking harsh words? What if we truly took the time to think before we spoke?
I think we would present the truth differently. It helps to put the other person above our feelings because we are intentionally thinking about how our words will impact them - will they be words to uplift their weary hearts or will they be words to send them down a deeper hole? Our words matter.
We have a role to play. We have to be accountable with the words that come out of our mouth and ask God to help our mouths to be filled with life-giving words that build each other up.
PRAY: Father, I pray that You would speak through my sisters. I ask that You help her to be intentional with her words this week so that she can speak truth from a loving place. Give her the restraint to pause and ask forgiveness for thinking harsh words yet give her the will to let kindness flow from her lips. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.
REFLECT: How will you be intentional with your words today?
