I’m Held Together by Christ
“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:17
The panic comes out of nowhere. I can’t breathe. My skin crawls in fear. I feel trapped. Like I’m grasping at sand and watching it sift through my fingers. Anxiety swarms and I only have one refuge, defense, and comfort. Jesus.
He holds me together when I feel like I’m unraveling. When the moment is too much and my worry swells, I pray. Jesus You see me. Be near. I’m scared. I can’t. Help me. Calm my spirit. Be my peace. And today’s verse says He’s right there with us in those tough circumstances. He’s walking ahead of the hard things, like financial problems, relational strife, all the chaos in our lives, and binds us together as we forge through. We weren’t made to be the glue of the universe. He is.
Anxiety reigns when I try to keep everything in line, yet I feel it all slipping out of control. I’m comforted knowing I can let go because it’s not my job to keep everything from falling apart. My role is to trust God with my relationships, plans, dreams, hurts, failures, and everyday chaos.
Things don’t always work out the way I’d choose, but God is presently working on my behalf and is sovereign over life. Every part of me is held together in His faithful hands. That helps me breathe a little easier.
