Faith Defies Logic – Beloved Women – April 30, 2024
READ: “Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw.” (Matthew 12:22 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: As a scientist, I like things to make sense and follow a logical pattern. Jesus healed a blind man who was demon possessed. The man could see and speak. The crowd was amazed by the miracle and believed Jesus was the Messiah.
However, the Pharisees accused Jesus of healing the man by the power of Satan. Jesus the Messiah, had come to live among his people, yet the leaders did not recognize Him. He drove out demons by the Spirit of God (Matthew 12:22-28).
As educated elites, the Pharisees relied on logic. They forgot the history and prophesies in the Old Testament that pointed to Jesus as Messiah. God delivered the Israelites from Egypt and helped them defeat Goliath. He provided when their ancestors were in captivity for 70 years in Babylon. The Pharisees judged God’s ways by their feeble senses, but faith in God defies logic.
Intellectual belief limits God. Though God still performs miracles today, but like the Pharisees, many believe intellectually. To experience God’s supernatural miracles, it requires that we have faith. We must simply trust Him. Where are you on the faith meter? Are you with the crowd or the Pharisees?
PRAY: Lord, thank You for working in mysterious ways. Strengthen my faith and help me grow closer to You so I may experience Your wonders in my life. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: How have you experienced God’s miracles? How is God calling you to let go of intellectual belief so you may grow in faith and experience his miracles?
SHARE: We cannot judge God’s ways by our feeble senses because faith in God defies logic.
