Make it Count – Beloved Women – May 19, 2020
READ: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as the unwise but as the wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: There are countless available resources on the topic of time management. Think about the amount of time spent managing our calendars, planners, and to do lists. When planning our time, we often focus on what we are going to do and when we are going to do it, but perhaps we should focus on why we are planning to do something and how we are going to do it.
In Ephesians Chapter 5, Paul provides an instructional guide to the believers in Ephesus on how they should live for God. Although most of the chapter focuses on specifics of what and what not to do, Paul pauses about midway through to tell the believers to examine their walk, to walk wisely and to make the best use of their time. Why? The days are numbered. In other words, time management tips and tricks are useless if we are not wisely using our time in a way that pleases God. Today, I encourage you to carefully examine how you are spending your time. Ask yourself why you are doing the things you are doing, and if you are doing them in a manner that brings glory and honor to God.
PRAY: Father, help me to spend my time wisely in a way that brings glory and honor to Your name. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray, Amen.
REFLECT: How are you spending your time? Are you making the best use of your time?
