Overcoming the Crisis – Beloved Women – September 22, 2020

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Life has changed dramatically in the last few months. Grabbing a coffee with friends or taking a child to school are never going to be the same. Even going to church is a cause for great debate. Many have experienced anxiety and isolation. Yet for many, I have found another issue below the surface.
An identity crisis is also at hand.
The things that “made us” have been altered. The soccer mom cannot cheer for her kids on the field. The one who worked hard to climb the corporate ladder and attain status is suddenly struggling. This sudden change has caused much frustration and depression. We have allowed so many “things” to make us. Yet during it all, we’ve been forced to reckon with what really comprises our identity.
This is the reason the Lord asks us to find our identity in Him. The truth is, when all is stripped away, His truth over you remains. You are a child of God, beloved, and His prized possession. When this is our focus, even in the darkest times, we can prevail. We can trust in Him above all. Today, let us remember who we are and walk in it!
PRAY: Dear Lord, I thank you for calling me Your own. Forgive me if I’ve allowed the titles and my lifestyle become an idol. I praise You for all that You have done for me, in the midst of it all the changes of the world. May You continue to remind me of who I am in You. Your love for me is my strength. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.
