Kindled Gifts – Beloved Women – November 24, 2023
READ: “For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” (2 Timothy 1:6 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Our favorite pastime as a young family was camping in beautiful mountain places of the Pacific Northwest. Packing all the proper gear and meal planning was a process. Finding that perfect campsite which was level and smooth was key. But the epic event was building the perfect fire. The task was tedious if you did not have the right tools or skill. You needed the right spot, the right tinder, kindling and fuel wood. Sometimes, you also needed the right amount of blowing power from your lungs to fan the flame.
In 2 Timothy, Paul is having a conversation with his son-in-Christ. He is expressing his love and sentiment to the young preacher. He then reminds him to “fan into flame the gift of God.”
If you are a follower of Christ, you were given gifts to minister to the body of Christ. So often, Christ’s followers allow their gifts to lie dormant. I encourage you to seek your gift. Make it your purpose to kindle the flame of your spiritual gift. Be intentional about serving to equip others and make it your work to build the body of Christ. Allow the Spirit to give life to your gifts.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, Thank you so much for the spiritual gifts that You give. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the work to build Your kingdom. Please give me courage to spark the flame of my gift and use it to Your honor and glory. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
REFLECT: Are there gifts that you know have been given to you by God, yet it remains dormant and unused?
