Hands-on Faith for Families – Week of December 28, 2020
Theme: Rejoice and Be Glad
Laughter Is Good for You
Scripture: A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22)
Play: Have one person try to keep a straight face while the other family members each spend 30 seconds trying to make the person laugh by telling jokes, making funny faces or singing silly songs. Play several rounds, taking turns as the “straight-faced person.”
Talk: Laughter is good for your well-being. It relieves stress and anxiety and can even make your body healthier. Proverbs 17:22 says that a cheerful heart is “good medicine.” And you can share this medicine with the people around you. Since God wants us to spread joy to others, who can we cheer up today with a smile, a visit or a card?
Pray: Ask God for a cheerful attitude that brings joy to others.
