Hands-on Faith for Families – week of February 1, 2020
Theme: Thinking about Others
Love Like Jesus
Scripture: If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? (James 2:15, 16 ESV)
Play: Have one of your kids eat something while the others say, “I’m hungry.” The child with the food taps each speaker on the head, saying, “Bless you,” and then keeps eating.
Talk: Saying “Bless you” to people who are hungry doesn’t really help them. In the Bible, Jesus fed hungry people. If our faith in God is real, we will do as Jesus did. When we see or hear about people who do not have enough food or clothes, we will show our faith and love for God by helping them (James 2:14-16). How can you help someone who is in need today?
Pray: Ask God to help you pay attention when people are in need and to show you how to help them.
