Today's Scripture
"A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22 AMP
Thoughts for Today
Christianity is joyful. Joy is good for your health.
Current thought recognizes many health benefits of laughter. It has been said that laughter reduces stress, strengthens the immune system, relaxes muscles, lowers blood pressure, provides repiratory cleansing, diminishes pain and is good cardiac exercise.
Isn't that just like our heavenly Father? He uses something as great as laughter to help us stay healthy.
Consider this …
Laughter is healthy, but what do most of us tend to do? Worry … complain … focus on problems more than blessings … indulge in staying overly busy … stress out over the little things, as well as the big things. There is no laughter and joy in that!
God is a happy God. We could do well to learn from little children. They are more like God than we are. They know how to laugh and have fun.
Want a guide to healthy living? Eat right, exercise, get enough rest and … laugh!
Prayer
Father, thank you for joy and laughter. Thank you for making something as great as laughter good for my health. Help me to focus on blessings more than problems … to trust instead of worry … to give thanks instead of complaining. Help me to have a cheerful mind.
In Jesus' name …
