Author Rick Warren has announced the release of his first book in over a decade and his first book since stepping down from his role as the lead pastor of Saddleback Church.
Warren's newest book, Created to Dream: The 6 Phrases God Uses to Grow Your Faith, will be released by Zondervan Books on April 11, 2023.
"In Created to Dream, Warren helps readers understand how God uses six phases of faith to grow their spiritual maturity while fulfilling the dreams he gives them. Each phase is a test of faith that allows readers to stop wondering if God has forgotten them and begin working with him toward all he has dreamed up for their future," Harper Collins said in a press release.
"Through discussing Scripture and Warren's lived experience, Created to Dream meets readers where they are in the process of seeing God's dream for their lives come to fruition. From the dream to decision to delays to difficulties to dead ends and to deliverance, Warren guides readers through each pivotal stage by providing them with hope, guidance on how to pray, and more. It's a book people will revisit over and over because dreams are not a one-time experience."
In 2015, Warren wrote a column for Pastors.com titled "How God Grows You Through the 6 Phases of Faith." He said those phases were "dream, decision, delay, difficult, dead end, and deliverance."
According to The Christian Post, Warren has written some 100 books, including the bestseller The Purpose Driven Life. By 2020, The Purpose Driven Life had sold more than 50 million copies in more than 85 languages.
In June 2021, Warren stepped down from the church he founded. Pastor Andy Wood and his wife, Stacie, assumed leadership of Saddleback, a megachurch with a weekly attendance of about 15,000.
"There is a right time for every activity. That includes every activity in your life," Warren said at the announcement of his resignation. "We're not supposed to just do the right things, the things that God wants us to do. We are to do it at the right time. Timing is everything in life."
