An actor best known for roles in television series such as CBS' Under the Dome and the CW's Walker and films like We Bought a Zoo and Captain Marvel says he draws strength from his Christian faith and favorite Bible verse.

Colin Ford, 26, entered the acting industry at age five and has been in more than 60 projects, including some that are well-known in the family-friendly realm. He voiced Jake in Disney's Captain Jake and the Never Land Pirates and had a lead role in the recent Pure Flix series, A Thousand Tomorrows. He also plays the lead role of baseball player Rickey Hill in the upcoming inspirational film The Hill (PG), scheduled for release Aug. 25.

Ford told Christian Headlines that he often quotes Philippians 4:13 when working on set. The verse is listed in his social media bio.

"Philippians 4:13 is one of my favorite verses – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. For me, those are like my power words," he told Christian Headlines. "Whenever I'm feeling anxious or down... I say those words to myself, and I remind myself that God is with me at all times."

Quoting the verse, he said, makes his anxiousness and nervousness "just disappear." The verse is quoted in The Hill, which follows the true-life story of a baseball player who overcomes a disability to play Major League Baseball.

"I already had that verse in my bio before I read the script," he said of the audition. "And it was kind of that moment, where I was like, 'This is me. This movie is me. I have to be Ricky, I have to do it. There's nothing that's gonna stop me from doing this film.'… I just felt very convicted by that verse. I felt very fortunate and divine, like there's some sort of divine intervention happening. It was meant to be."

Ford acknowledged there have been "times in my life where I wasn't practicing my faith" – "times when I went out and I was being a crazy teenager, and did stuff that I'm not proud of."

"But I came back to the Lord," he said. "and came back to my own faith and my own understanding of the type of person that I want to be and the type of family that I want to create for myself in the future and how I want to live my life."
