Hip-hop artist Doja Cat’s latest music video features satanic imagery and shows her dressed up in a demonic costume.

The single titled “Demons” features Doja Cat, who haunts The Addams Family actress Christina Ricci inside her newly bought house. According to MovieGuide, the music video has received over 12 million views since its release earlier this month. The song was directed by Christian Breslauer and Doja Cat herself.

In one part of the video, Doja Cat is shown naked while sitting in a fetal position in a bathroom. The shot then proceeds to a demonic hand pushing up against her back as she becomes possessed. Additional imagery in the shot includes an eye imprinted on the back of her head and a skeleton of a winged creature on her back.

Throughout the video, Doja Cat is seen wearing an all-black horned demon costume with red-colored contacts.

The music has been met with backlash, with some questioning on social media if the singer “sold her soul to the devil.”

She also performed the song alongside her other hits “Attention" and "Paint the Town Red" at the 2023 MTV Music Video Awards on Tuesday, September 12.

The “Demons” release comes ahead of her latest album, Scarlett Scarlet, which is scheduled to release on Sept. 22.

“This new album is more introspective, but I’m not leaning so hard into that to where it becomes boring. So I want to give stories and bops. It’s a nice mixture of both. I think this project is a really fun canvas for me to play with my rap skills and talk about what’s going on in my life,” the rap artist told Harper’s Bazaar for the September 2023 Icons issue.

“But I’m not abandoning who I was and what I know about pop and singing and that aspect of music.”

The music video for “Demons” is not the first time satanic imagery has been featured in her music. Early last month, the music video for her song “Paint the Song Red” was released, which features her wearing a red hooded dress or donning a horned black outfit while also eating red meat.
