The producers of the major hit series “The Chosen” expressed their support for Israel amid the war with Hamas.

During an interview on the red carpet at the Dove Awards, Chad Gundersen, one of the show’s producers, told The Christian Post, “We're a Jewish show. It's that simple. We're not a Christian show yet.”

“There aren't Christians until Christ has done what He was supposed to do. So, right now, we're a Jewish show. And honestly, we just stand with Israel right now. It's that simple. And it's heartbreaking to see what's going on over there.”

On Oct. 7, Hamas launched a terrorist attack on Israel, in which they killed at least 1,400 civilians, wounded thousands of others, and took 200 people hostage. In response, Israel has taken action against Hamas with a series of bombings on Gaza, killing over 4,000 Palestinians, according to Hamas.

Despite the conflict, Gunderson told CP he hopes “The Chosen” “can give a little bit of hope” to those struggling.

“We pray for Israel and everything going on over there,” he said.

Chris Juen, who also produced the series, told CP that “The Chosen” was meant to point viewers to The Bible.

“For us, this series is a way to tell these stories in a way that more and more people are drawn to them, and then ultimately, drive them back into their Bibles,” he said.

Season 4 of “The Chosen” is expected to be released in theaters on February 1, 2024, before streaming online, CBN News

"Every time we've dipped our toes in the theatrical waters, viewers have overwhelmingly told us they want more," Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of "The Chosen," said in a press release. "After seeing the Season 4 episodes, we knew we'd be doing our fans a disservice if we denied them the chance to see them all on a big screen with others they can laugh and cry with."

Since the premiere of season 1, “The Chosen” has been streamed over 500 million times and has been watched by more than 108 million people. The series is currently available to watch for free on the Chosen App or the Angel Studios app. It can also be seen on several major streaming platforms, including Peacock, Apple TV, fubo TV, Google Play, Netflix, and Amazon Prime.

On July 16,   the first three seasons of The Chosen began airing on broadcast TV for the first time on the CW Network. The series can be watched on the CW Network every Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern/6:00 p.m. Mountain Time through Christmas Eve.
