December 13, 2023 – Who Do You Trust?
Proverbs 3:5-8
Sermon: 1903 How to Be Successful, Part 1
Pray Over This
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.”
Proverbs 3:5-8
Ponder This
Why is it difficult for us to trust the Lord with all our hearts? It’s hard to trust someone you don’t know. I mean, if a perfect stranger were to walk up to you today and say, “Will you do something for me?” What’s your first question? “What is it?” If Joyce were to say to me, “Adrian will you do something for me?” I might say, “What is it?” And then she might say to me, “Just trust me.” I’d say, “Yes.” Do you know why? I know her that well. I can trust her because I know her.
You can’t trust someone you don’t know. If you’re having difficulty trusting the Lord, you have not learned to know Him and love Him. To know Him is to love Him. And then to love Him is to trust Him. And then to trust Him is to obey Him. And to obey Him is to be blessed. So, it begins with knowing the Lord, and if you’re having difficulty trusting the Lord, may I suggest that you spend some time getting to know the Lord. We’re not to trust our own understanding. So many times, we want to say, “Well, this is the way I think.” Very frankly, we make a terrible mistake when we trust our own understanding.
- Where do you struggle to trust God?
- When was a time when you were close to God? Why was it easier to trust Him in that time?
Practice This
Spend some time in God’s Word getting to know Him better.
