“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
As you talk to people about Jesus, remember that you are inviting them into the best life possible!
Sometimes because we can get uptight about speaking with people about spiritual things, we think that they will respond with negative emotions as well. We can get the idea that being a witness for Jesus is kind of like shoving horrible-tasting brussels sprouts into the mouth of a child. If that’s the way you feel about it, they will start to feel that way too.
But Jesus says, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd.” When you stop and remember that you are introducing people to ‘the good shepherd’ and that what he wants to do in their lives is full of beauty, hope, and life—then you will come to the place where you are actually eager to share Christ with people.
You’re not shoving brussel sprouts into a reluctant mouth; you’re serving them pavlova covered with cool, thick cream and topped with all sorts of delicious berries and fruit!
What’s one way God has “topped” your life with something that your unsaved friends would be hungry for? What unsaved friend could you invite over to share dinner, and maybe a little “pavlova”?
