June 14, 2024 – Are You Sowing the Seed of God’s Word?
Matthew 13:3-9
Sermon: 2040 Mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, Part 2
Pray Over This
“Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: ‘Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!’”
Matthew 13:3-9
Ponder This
I have been preaching the Bible long enough to know there is power in the Word of God. It is alive and it is powerful. It’s like a seed, and the secret of a seed is that it germinates life. In John 6:63, Jesus said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” If you want a crop, you can plow all you want, fertilize all you want, and irrigate all you want, but if you don’t put a seed in, you’re not going to grow a crop.
You know there are preachers who specialize in plowing, irrigation, and fertilizer, but fail to put the seed in. It’s not enough to tickle the soil. You’ve got to sow the seed. Any church that is not a Bible preaching church will not grow. It’s not going to reproduce, because the life comes from the seed. “A sower went out to sow.” The seed is the Word of the Kingdom of God. You want to be a soul winner? You’ll never be a soul winner without sowing the seed. You’ve got to sow.
- You can only sow what you have received. What have you received from God?
- Why do you think we forget the importance of the Word when we are trying to share the hope of Christ?
