The producers of God’s Not Dead are gearing up to release the fifth installment of the franchise this year. As reported by Faithwire, “God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust,” scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on September 12, “explores the intersection of faith, politics, and our civic duty.”
The film comes out amid a time in which people fear being canceled and stresses the importance of standing up for one’s beliefs and taking action to make a positive mark.
“Set in a time of political and spiritual upheaval, ‘God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust follows’ Reverend David Hill as he runs for Congress following the sudden death of an incumbent,” a synopsis reads. “Facing a powerful adversary intent on removing religion from governance, the film emphasizes the significance of religious values in shaping policy and governance.”
“Now more than ever, Christians must realize that we are being called to deliver hope to a country that’s feeling hopeless,” Hill proclaims from the pulpit in the movie’s trailer. “Faith begins where your comfort zone ends. We need to step out into that faith.”
The movie stars David A.R. White, who reprises his role as the Reverend David Hill, as well as Isaiah Washington, Dean Cain, Scott Baio, and many others. According to Pureflix, Governor Mike Huckabee, Raymond Arroyo, and the Grammy Award-winning Christian band Newsboys will also make guest appearances.
The band will release “In God We Trust” on July 19 as part of the film and its new album, “Worldwide Revival: Part One.”
“New song, new movie,” the band posted on Instagram last month. “We’re stoked to be working with our GND movie fam again & can’t wait for you to see more of what we’ve been working on!”
The Christian streaming platform Great American Pureflix will part with the latest installment in the “God’s Not Dead” franchise.
“‘God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust’ serves as a bold reminder that complacency can erode our liberties, freedom, and faith when we fail to defend and uphold them actively,” said producer Michael Scott. “If we truly believe in a faithful God who is ‘good all the time,’ we must be willing to speak out and stand firm in our beliefs, even in the face of great risks and opposition.”
