Dennis Quaid's Musical Version of 'The Lord's Prayer' Wows

from GodTube.com

The Bible is a book filled with instructions, providing guidance and answers on living and interacting with our fellow man. Some of those directions and commands in God’s Word come from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In Matthew, the first book of the New Testament, Jesus discusses several topics. Some of those that He mentions include adultery, divorce, fasting, and giving to those in need. During his time on Earth, Christ even taught His followers the proper way to pray and communicate with the Father.

In his instructions on prayer, Christ told His followers to be short, sweet, and to the point. He told them not to make themselves a spectacle while praying. Jesus also offered up and provided a prayer.

Of course, that prayer, found in Matthew 6, has since become known as “The Lord’s Prayer.” It’s a series of verses that many people likely know by heart and are able to recite with relative ease.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Dennis Quaid took Jesus’s prayer, which is recorded in Matthew, and turned it into a song. It’s a beautiful musical performance as Dennis took the words first spoken by Christ and put a melody behind them. This is one performance that you’ll want to watch and listen to repeatedly.

“Father, who art in Heaven

Holy is Thy name

Thy kingdom come

Thy will be done”

Prayer is the most important thing Christians can do. Reading God’s Word is necessary and vital, and all followers of Christ should do it daily. However, prayer is talking to the Creator of the Universe. Like Jesus taught in Matthew, we don’t have to go through an intermediary. We can go directly to the Father.

Prayer is powerful and can and does change lives. Prayer allows us to communicate with Him, passing along our fears, requests, and praises.

Matthew 6:7 “And in your prayer do not make use of the same words again and again, as the Gentiles do: for they have the idea that God will give attention to them because of the number of their words.”
