Tim Tebow Continues Leading Fight for Rescuing Sexually Exploited Children

The Tim Tebow Foundation is still on a mission to rescue children who have been sexually exploited and are also at risk.

“For too long, child sexual exploitation has been hidden in the darkness of the internet. It’s an evil that has decimated the lives of so many children,” Tim Tebow, Founder and Chairman of the Tim Tebow Foundation, said in a statement.

“This year’s campaign is called unKNOWN and unFINISHED because while we are grateful for the last year of momentum, there are still hundreds of thousands of boys and girls in despair,” he said, adding that, “This year, we’re asking for people to stand with us to continue this fight to reach, protect, and love every child who is waiting to be identified and rescued.”

“Right now, law enforcement can see over 500,000 unique IP addresses around the world actively trading child sexual abuse material…images and videos of children under 12 being abused, raped and tortured,” Tebow said in a Tuesday post on his Facebook page

“The majority of those offenders are also committing hands-on offenses against children in their own homes and their own communities. Even worse, these offenders have an average of 13 victims each,” he said.

Tebow insisted that if caring individuals would “stand together, side-by-side,” that he believed everyone working together to address the tragic reality of such a gross abuse of children would make a radical difference in the lives of boys and girls.

The unKNOWN & unFINISHED campaign has both a domestic and global focus on:

  • Safeguard: Expand global rescue operations to identify, locate, and rescue as many children who have been sexually abused and exploited as possible.
  • Stand Up: Equip law enforcement with training and technology that can lead to the most vulnerable children and the most dangerous offenders.
  • Strengthen: Build a bigger rescue team of analysts, investigators, and law enforcement to rescue children faster and prevent new victims through legislation.

Though the Tim Tebow Foundation has been around since 2010 and has championed many causes to bring faith, hope, and love to the world’s most vulnerable people, this campaign is in its second year. It will also serve as Tim Tebow’s 37th birthday fundraiser.

Last year’s campaign raised more than $2.6 million, enabling the preliminary identification of more than 800 victims of child sexual exploitation, of which partners and law enforcement have rescued hundreds in the past year.
