Are You a Murmurer? - Love Worth Finding - August 22

August 22, 2024 – Are You a Murmurer?
Philippians 2:14
Sermon: 1243 How to Turn Problems into Possibilities, Part 2

Pray Over This

“Do all things without complaining and disputing.”
Philippians 2:14

Ponder This

Murmuring and complaining is dangerous to the Church. Murmuring leads to disputing and disputing to division. If you murmur, you’re speaking against God, because the Bible says in everything, we are to give thanks. You can’t murmur and give thanks at the same time. The Bible says God’s praise is to be continually on our lips. Murmurers and praisers are not made of the same thing.

This has been a problem for the people of God for a long time. People were murmuring in Moses’ time. In Exodus 16:8, Moses said, “For that the Lord heareth your murmuring.” That should be enough to scare us to death right there. “The Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD” (KJV).

If you murmur against your parents, you’re really murmuring against God. When you murmur against your employee, you’re murmuring against God. If you murmur against your teachers, you’re murmuring against God. When you murmur against your pastor, you’re murmuring against God. That doesn’t mean any of those people are perfect, it simply means murmuring is never a way to address a problem. It is the devil’s way to cause division instead of addressing issues rightly.

  • When was a time you murmured or complained recently?
  • How have you witnessed murmuring to be destructive?

Practice This

Ask the Lord to help you be aware of any times you murmur or are prone to do so throughout the day.
