Driving is a dangerous activity. But it's one most people do every single day without thinking about what could happen along the way. Of course, exercising caution and safety can dramatically decrease the odds of an accident. However, sadly, every single day, people, for a variety of reasons, are hurt and even killed in motor vehicle accidents. One woman, Leigh Ann Sondrup, refused to let a man involved in an accident become just another motor vehicle fatality statistic. Leigh Ann, an emergency room nurse in the Phoenix, Arizona area, was on her way home from work one morning in late July, according to Fox 10.

Like most people, after a long, stress-filled day at work, Leigh Ann was tired. She was heading home after having just completed her fourth straight night shift, according to Sunny Skyz.

It was during her drive home on July 26 when Leigh Ann noticed a horrible scene in the distance. As she got closer and closer to the scene, she realized it was a cement truck turn on its side.

Off-Duty Nurse Says Her Heavenly Father Directed Her Path

The nurse knew the accident was recent. As she mentioned in a video posted by the Phoenix Fire Department, emergency first responders had not yet made it to the scene. She knew that she had to act.

Leigh Ann hustled over to the scene, safely crossing the usually busy highway, which was empty at the time.

“Divine intervention,” Leigh Ann said. “All of a sudden, there were no cars coming. I could cross over.

She then quickly assessed the situation. She discovered the driver was trapped, still conscious, but injured and losing blood at an alarming rate.

The emergency room nurse crawled underneath the overturned truck. She then used the man's belt as a tourniquet to stop any further blood loss.

As for what put her in that position to help that man who had suffered a life-threatening injury, Leigh Ann says it was the Lord's doing.

“I do believe that my heavenly father does direct my path,” she said. “I’m far from perfect, but I do feel that at that particular moment, he gave me a forewarning.”

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them."Ephesians 2:10
