Chick-fil-A is launching a kid-focused app this fall filled with original content, including an animated streaming series, scripted podcasts, and unique craft ideas. The Chick-fil-A "Play" app is scheduled to launch Nov. 18 and will offer families the "ultimate digital 'playground'" with content designed to "be shared both within the app and in-person,"  encouraging families to "make the most of the moments they have with each other," the company said in a news release.

The app will be free.

"Hospitality and fun have always been at the core of the Chick-fil-A family experience, whether inside our restaurants and play areas or through our kid's meals," said Dustin Britt, executive director of brand strategy. "The Chick-fil-A Play App is a digital extension of that experience and another way we're reimagining 'Play' for our guests, in a unique way through entertainment that really encourages time together."

News of the app comes two months after Deadline reported that Chick-fil-A "has been working with a number of major production companies" with the goal of launching its own streaming platform. That platform, apparently, is the Play app.

The new app will include:

-- Original animated series. One of those series, Evergreen Hills, will launch in November. The series is "designed in landscape format to be watched together, either cast to a TV or through a tablet."

-- Original scripted podcasts. "Kid-friendly podcasts to use on the way to school, practice, and anywhere in between."

-- Games, jokes, and conversation starters. "Get the whole family talking -- and laughing -- together, whether at home or on the go."

-- Video-based recipes and kid-friendly crafts. "Get creative with all the family with plenty of ways to experiment in the kitchen or through fun arts and crafts everyone can enjoy."

-- E-books and interactive stories. "Designed for easy, family-friendly entertainment anytime, anywhere."

This summer, Chick-fil-A was named America's favorite fast-food restaurant for the 10th straight year in the American Consumer Satisfaction Index report. The company's corporate purpose is to "glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us" and to "have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A," according to its website. Its restaurants are closed on Sundays.
